Hello! My name is Alyssa Vargas, and I am a counseling intern at Lotus Counseling for the summer and fall of 2022. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development with a minor in Educational Psychology and a concentration in Social Services from the University of Texas at Austin. I am currently a  Master's student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of North Texas. I am passionate about working within the Latinx community, as well as clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, stress/burnout, coping skills, relationship issues, and life transitions.

I am a current member of the American Counseling Association. My education and training has prepared me to counsel adults. I have worked with adults who have struggled with burnout, anxiety, interpersonal conflicts, self-esteem related concerns, and life transitions.

When working with clients, I use an Adlerian approach because I value the basis of this theory being holistic and goal-oriented. As an Adlerian counselor I believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship is necessary to get the most out of therapy. I believe my role in this process is to ultimately meet you where you are at and use encouragement to help pinpoint the strengths within you and help you grow and change on this journey we call life! My goal is to create a warm, friendly, and empathetic environment and ultimately become a part of your support system.

I have availability to work with adults (18+). I am under the supervision of Madai Maldonado, LPC, RPT. I look forward to meeting you!
