I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Texas and a 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200). I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas and my yoga teacher training from Blue Anjou Yoga and Meditation in Lewisville, TX. I have completed additional training to be listed as a Highly Sensitive Knowledgeable Therapist on the HSP website www.hsperson.com.
I have obtained experience providing counseling services to people of all ages in a variety of settings, including university community clinics, partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and private practice. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and parents who have experienced trauma and who are struggling with behavioral issues, anxiety, depression, self-harming behaviors, suicidality, and life transitions. I have a special interest in working with Highly Sensitive People and Children (HSPs/HSCs), anxiety, perfectionism, gifted children and adolescents, young adults facing life transitions, adults wanting to process difficult childhoods, and providing support to parents seeking their own counseling to better support themselves and their parenting. I believe one of the best ways to support today’s children is by supporting their parents, and I have a special place in my heart for mothers and fathers who want to work on themselves.
My view of the therapy process is one of collaboration with the client. I utilize an eclectic approach, drawing from Adlerian and Client-Centered theories while incorporating tools from other areas such as CBT, mindfulness, and yoga as appropriate and with permission from the client. I believe all of our behaviors have an underlying purpose and strive to help each of my clients develop insight into their own or their child’s behaviors to increase understanding of these behaviors and what to do about them. We all develop beliefs about ourselves and others through our early life experiences which leads to the development of behavioral patterns. I work with clients to recognize these patterns, understand where they came from, and re-learn new patterns that better serve you or your child in the present. For older adolescents and adults, our work may include expressive arts or mindfulness techniques. In addition to talk therapy, I provide play and activity therapy for children ages 3-12 and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) for parents looking to improve their relationship with their child. As a fellow HSP, I have a special interest in teaching other HSPs or parents of HSCs more about the trait and the strengths that come with it as well as techniques and lifestyle changes to better support and calm their overactive nervous systems.
I am honored to even be considered to walk alongside you or your child on the road to healing. In our counseling work, I hope to provide a safe space, free of judgment, where you can feel free to be your authentic self. I am available for individual counseling services for adults, adolescents, and children ages 3+. Please contact me directly at 972-413-8847 or firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss scheduling an appointment.
