Hello! My name is Vianet Garza, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. Additionally, I am also a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). I received a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Studies with a minor in Addictions from the University of North Texas, and I continued on at UNT and earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Through my training and experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, I have grown to trust and believe that it is through the safety of the counseling relationship that true change can occur. In my counseling room, you will experience unconditional positive regard, acceptance, and feel empowered to achieve your goals. I believe everyone has innate value and is worthy of living a fulfilling life. I will utilize techniques from different theoretical perspectives and collaborate with you to determine the most appropriate path for your desired growth.
I am a current member of the Texas Counseling Association and the American Counseling Association. My education and training has prepared me to counsel children utilizing play therapy, and I also specialize in working with clients going through life transitions/adjustments; whether it is a change in career or a change in their home life. Specifically, my experiences include working with adolescents and adults experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety, trauma, or simply feeling “stuck” in their current situation.
Choosing the right counselor is important, and I believe change occurs when you feel understood and accepted by someone who can help you develop insight into your situation. It is my hope for my clients that they will feel heard and accepted every time they see me. Therapy is hard work, and change is even harder. It might be a longer process than you expect, but my role is to travel that road beside you.
