I am a Provisionally Licensed Psychologist and I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman’s University. I work primarily with adult clients and have extensive experience working with survivors of interpersonal trauma (e.g. relationship violence, sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse). I have also worked with individuals affected by depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and complicated family relationships.
When working with clients, I use a person-centered and relational-cultural approach to create a safe space built on empathy and understanding. I additionally have training and experience in Cognitive Processing Therapy, a cognitive behavioral treatment for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. I believe the therapeutic relationship is extremely important and view successful therapy as a collaborative process.
As a bilingual (English/Spanish) and bicultural counselor, I recognize the importance that culture, heritage, and community can play in an individual 's life.
