Hi! My name is Payton Martin (she/her) and I am a counseling intern at Lotus Counseling. I know therapy can be hard work, and taking the first step can feel vulnerable, uncertain, and maybe even uncomfortable. My goal is to create a space that feels safe and supportive because your voice matters!
I obtained my bachelor's degree in psychology from Texas A&M and am currently completing my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Texas Woman’s University. Through my academic and internship experiences, I hold the belief that humans are resilient even in adverse conditions, and that healing and hope emerge through relationships grounded in empathy, authenticity, and collaboration. My past work has included supporting clients with a wide range of diagnoses and backgrounds, emphasizing rapport, tailored interventions, and navigating relational challenges in complex life contexts.
My therapeutic approach integrates Relational-Cultural Theory, attachment theory, trauma-informed cognitive-behavioral therapy, and person-centered therapy, alongside various other approaches. Having an integrated approach allows me to cater therapeutic interventions to your specific needs and goals rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I primarily work with adults and teens navigating anxiety, mood-related concerns, trauma and interpersonal trauma histories, relationship and attachment challenges, identity development, and life transitions.
I am a strong believer that humans thrive off connection and that our relationships shape how we show up in the world and how we view ourselves. This is exactly why my goal is to show up as another human in the room while offering support, reflection, and gentle challenges when they may foster growth. This is your space to show up as you are, and I hope to support you in the process of growth and self-understanding.
